Last minute rush for Nakheel Night Souk as investors book 200 units an hour
Developer declares new project at Deira Islands fully leased
Nakheel’s new Night Souk at Deira Islands – home to 5,300 shops and nearly 100 restaurants – is now fully leased, with hundreds of local businessmen and women making a last minute dash for units at the new attraction.
Emirati entrepreneurs have flocked to Nakheel’s Dubai headquarters all week as word spread about the unique opportunities available at the Night Souk, but today demand reached unprecedented levels, with investors queuing from 5am and snapping up nearly 200 units an hour.
Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “We are overwhelmed and delighted by the response to our launch of the Night Souk. In particular, it is wonderful to see so many young people and so many female investors wanting to be a part of this exciting new project. Around half of the investors are under 40, with some as young as their early 20s.
“Our Night Souk will bring together a new generation of local traders at Dubai’s oldest and most traditional business hub.”
Stretching 1.9 km along Deira Islands’ waterfront, the Night Souk – a modern twist on a traditional Arabic souk – includes 5,300 shops 96 quayside cafes and restaurants. Located just across the water from mainland Dubai, it will be easily accessible by road and water, and within walking distance of hotels, residences and Deira Islands Mall, Nakheel’s other major retail project at the islands.
Deira Islands is a four-island waterfront city, master planned by Nakheel, that will add 40 km, including 21 km of beachfront, to Dubai’s coastline and pave the way for the development of hundreds of new hotels, serviced apartments, mixed-use buildings and residential waterside projects.
