Nakheel welcomes university engineering students to Dragon Mart expansion site
Nearly 40 female students from United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain visited Dubai’s Dragon Mart complex for a tour of Nakheel’s AED1 billion, 177,000 square metre extension project site.
The Architectural Engineering Department (College of Engineering) students’ field trip included a construction site tour and presentation by Nakheel’s in-house construction team and project consultants, who shared their knowledge of project management systems and processes, design and construction stages, planning and scheduling and document management. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions.
Metha Al Suwaidi, Director of the Dragon Mart extension project, said: “We were delighted to welcome these talented young engineers to give them first-hand experience of a live construction site.”
Dr. Alaa Abdou, Assistant Professor, Architectural Engineering Department, College of Engineering, UAE University Al Ain, added: “The visit to Dragon Mart allowed the students to link the theories they learn in class with real world practices. We thank Nakheel and the Dragon Mart construction team for a most interesting, insightful and educational experience.”
Dragon Mart is already the largest trading hub for Chinese products outside mainland China. The phase two extension is set to double the size of the existing project to 335,000 square metres – an area big enough to accommodate 47 international football pitches.
