Nakheel’s cements construction contract for Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk
Nakheel has officially signed the construction contract for The Boardwalk, a new, AED150 million waterfront attraction that will run the full 11km length of Palm Jumeirah’s crescent.
The developer has appointed Overseas AST Company LLC to build The Boardwalk, one of several new destination projects underway at Palm Jumeirah. Work will begin by the end of this month, with completion in mid-2016.
The Boardwalk will transform Palm Jumeirah’s 11km protective breakwater into a vibrant destination for walking, shopping and dining. It includes an East and West Pier – each stretching 100 metres out to sea – featuring glass-encased cafes and restaurants with views of The Palm, Arabian Gulf and the Dubai skyline.
Accessible from 14 points along the existing sidewalk and on the doorstep of an array of world-famous resorts on Palm Jumeirah’s crescent, The Boardwalk will be created by building over the rocks of the island’s breakwater. It will be six metres wide – double the width of the existing crescent path – with 30 kiosks, offering refreshments and souvenirs, throughout its length.
Palm Jumeirah is currently home to a growing number of world-famous resorts including Atlantis The Palm, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Anantara, Kempinski, One & Only, Rixos, Sofitel, Waldorf Astoria and The Fairmont, with more on the way, including Nakheel’s own hotel and residential complex, The Palm Tower.
Other Nakheel projects underway on Palm Jumeirah include Nakheel Mall, The Pointe, Palm West Beach and a range of residential developments offering retail, restaurant and beach club facilities.
