Nakheel claims top finance industry awards
Nakheel has claimed two top awards at 'The Islamic Finance news Awards' which honours the best in the Islamic financial industry.
'The Islamic Finance news Awards' is one of the industry's most prestigious awards nights with the winners selected by the subscribers of 'Islamic Finance news' based on industry performance excellence. It also recognizes the excellence of top deals and dealmakers in the Islamic Finance industry.
Key players and figures in the Islamic Finance industry gathered for the inaugural ceremony at the Shangri La Hotel, Dubai on the 12th of March 2007 where Nakheel claimed the prize for 'Real Estate Deal of the Year'.
A spokesman for the awards said: «There were many entries for this category, but, the sheer scale of Nakheel demonstrates that investors voted with the dollars in the Nakheel company, its UAE real estate vision and its expansion plans. There is an old saying, «money talks, you know what walks.» Nakheel is the best real estate deal.»
Nakheel also claimed the prize for best 'Ijarah Deal of the Year' for its Sukuk Ijarah (Islamic-compliant bond) which was issued as the world's largest in December 2007 at US$3.52 billion.
The spokesman added: «The largest ever Sukuk issuance and one of the ten largest convertible bond issuances ever globally, Nakheel demonstrates the relative attraction of GCC assets and GCC government-linked companies to global investors, including investment in the GCC real estate sector.»
The Islamic Finance poll was established in 2005, and continues to be an apt representation of the current Islamic market landscape. Since then it has been the industry's leading and most comprehensive annual poll.
