Nakheel develops strategic alliance with RTA
Nakheel, the world's largest privately-held property developer, has strengthened ties with RTA (Road Transport Authority) - the organisation responsible for the planning and execution of transport and traffic projects in Dubai with the formation of a strategic alliance.
Senior officials from Nakheel, including Chief Executive Chris O'Donnell, met with RTA officials and provided a theatre presentation outlining the various requirements of Nakheel's property developments. Nakheel officials also hosted a boat trip to The Palm Jumeirah before driving onto the island itself to see the development first-hand.
The meeting was a further step in the establishment of a regular interface and increased close liaison between the two organisations. The strategic alliance will ensure the appropriate delivery of Nakheel projects such as The Palm, Waterfront and Jumeirah Park, in line with the RTA's strategies and regulations.
Major issues discussed at the meeting included the interconnection between Nakheel developments and the RTA's road network, as well as integrated solutions for the Metro and Marine transportation networks. The implementation of procedures for the future was also agreed by both parties.
Chris O'Donnell, Nakheel Chief Executive, said: «Nakheel is renowned for its bold and innovative projects, which are built on a grand and ambitious scale; our projects require carefully planned and well-thought transport networks and it is therefore vitally important that a close partnership exists between Nakheel and the RTA. We already have a great relationship with the RTA, but through regular, formalized briefings and meetings such as this we can enhance coordination further to ensure that we continue to work effectively together to help build the vision of Dubai.»
Maitha Bin Adai, CEO Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, said: «The RTA delegation visit to Nakheel is a step to expand the value of cooperation between two strategic partners to enhance coordination and exchange information about projects being implemented in Dubai.
«The RTA is working in cooperation with Nakheel to provide a comprehensive transport system within the projects to guarantee smooth traffic inside and outside projects zone and to provide modern, convenient and reliable comprehensive transportation networks. Such a meeting helps to establish the principle of transparency in dealing between the two sides, in addition to its importance in achieving the customers satisfaction, in order to achieve the RTA vision in providing "Safe and smooth transport for all.»
