Vibrocompaction is well underway and on schedule at the 61,000 sqm site of Palma Residences, paving the way for construction to begin on Nakheel’s new luxury residential project on Palm Jumeirah.
The vibrocompaction process, which involves densifying loose sands to create a stable foundation soils, will be completed in the next three months.
In April this year, Nakheel awarded Dubai Civil Engineering an AED194 million contract for Palma Residences’ infrastructure and construction work. The team is now fully mobilized, with more than 900 workers expected on site at the peak of construction.
Nakheel is also in the final stages of appointing a contractor for the Palma Residences beach profiling work, due to begin in the next month. The beach designer is Halcrow.
Palma Residences, located on 61,000 sqms of reclaimed land off the eastern side of Palm Jumeirah’s trunk, is an exclusive collection of 104 Mediterranean-style residential units, each with direct beach or pool access. The development – one of several Nakheel projects in the pipeline for Palm Jumeirah this year – is due for completion by the end of 2013.
Palma Residences range from AED6 million to around AED8 million.
