Nakheel signs contracts worth AED43 million for Palm Jumeirah developments

Nakheel today (Thursday, 19 April) announced contracts worth AED43million for two key projects on Palm Jumeirah, its flagship master planned development in Dubai.

The company has signed a contract for almost AED25 million with world-leading architects RSP for the design of The Palm Mall, a 1.7 million sq ft retail complex set to open in 2014.  Design work is due to finish by the end of this year, with construction starting early in 2013.

Nakheel has also awarded a contract for nearly AED18 million to Al Marwan Contracting for infrastructure work on Frond N of Palm Jumeirah. The work – expected to begin in the next few weeks and take around five months to complete – will pave the way for another 105 beachside properties on The Palm.

Speaking at a ceremony at Nakheel’s Dubai headquarters today (Thursday), Acting CEO Sanjay Manchanda said: “Today’s contract awards are another milestone for Nakheel and for Palm Jumeirah, and proof of our commitment towards continued delivery to our customers.

“The Palm Mall will be major addition to the ever-growing number of facilities and attractions on our flagship development, and we are proud to engage RSP to design what will undoubtedly be a big draw for Palm residents and visitors.

“We are also delighted to partner with Al Marwan Contracting, who we know has the capability and commitment to complete the Frond N infrastructure work professionally and on time.  Owners of plots on Frond N will soon be able to build their homes and enjoy living on one of the world’s most sought-after locations,” he added.

Al Marwan’s work includes roads network, traffic signage, street lighting, storm water drainage, vacuum sewerage, irrigation systems, potable water systems, electrical networks, telecommunication and gas networks.

Nakheel had also previously engaged Al Marwan for the recently-completed infrastructure works on the Emirati Cluster at International City.
