Nakheel Chairman ups the pace for Dubai Fitness Challenge with 10k staff run at Palm Jumeirah

3rd November 2018

Nakheel Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, stepped up the pace for Dubai Fitness Challenge this morning by leading more than 100 employees on a 10 kilometre run and walkathon at Palm Jumeirah’s Boardwalk.

The event, one of hundreds of activities organised by Nakheel for residents and staff during the 30x30 fitness campaign, was won by Julius Odhiambo, who completed his run in 49 minutes, 27 seconds.  The winning lady was May Rahima, in 55 minutes, 25 seconds.

Nakheel is backing the Dubai Fitness Challenge as part of its commitment to encouraging sports and fitness among community residents and employees. This morning’s walk covered almost the entire length of Palm Jumeirah’s crescent, home to the 11 kilometre waterfront promenade known as The Boardwalk.

Elsewhere on the island, another landmark, Al Ittihad Park, has been transformed into a workout wonderland for Dubai Fitness Challenge, with hundreds of free activities, events and attractions throughout the 30-day health and fitness initiative.

The park – named Palm Jumeirah Fitness Village for the month-long event – features a nightly Glow Run, with themed lighting along the 3.2 km jogging track that surrounds the park. There is also a full programme of daily and nightly activities in the park and on the terraces of the adjacent Golden Mile Galleria mall, with tailored activations for children and people of determination.

Nakheel Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, said: “After our hugely successful participation in the first Dubai Fitness Challenge last year, we are proud to be back with an even stronger presence at the 2018 event. We fully accept the Challenge and it’s clear that our residents, staff and the wider Dubai community are, too.”

While the Palm Jumeirah Fitness Village is the focal point for Nakheel activities during Dubai Fitness Challenge, there are also free classes, healthy meals and special offers on membership at Nakheel sports and recreation clubs at Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and Jumeirah Islands.

Palm Jumeirah’s activities at Al Ittihad Park run until Thursday, 22 November.
